Cynthia (Sassy) Gale Jones passed away peacefully in her home in Mesa, Arizona on October 26, 2021. She was born on February 3, 1965, in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after, she moved to Parker, Arizona with her parents Don and Lois Towning. She attended Parker High School and graduated in 1983 then went on to attend Arizona State University. Sassy married the love of her life, Andy Jones on September 2, 1988. Together they shared two children, Andrew Jones, and Elizabeth Rizzo (Jones).
Sassy worked as an accountant and ultimately owned her own accounting consulting company and primarily worked with the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) Farms. Outside of her work, Sassy volunteered her time with the youth of Parker as a T-Ball coach, 4-H leader, and within the livestock community.
More than anything Sassy was a mother, not only to her biological children, but to all of her “adopted” children. She made sure no one left her home hungry or hurting. Her holidays were filled with strangers that became family. There was never a time when Sassy forgot about any one of her kids. It was with open arms that she offered a place of love, acceptance, compassion, stability, and assistance.
Sassy is preceded in death by her parents Lois and Donald Towning and her husband, Andy Jones. She is survived by her children, Andrew Jones and his wife Alysa Jones, and her daughter Elizabeth Rizzo and her husband Jerry Rizzo. Most recently, she is survived by her first and only grandchild, Aiden Carter Jones born on October 17, 2021.
Services for Sassy will be Friday, November 12th at 1:00pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park (6747 E. Broadway Rd. Mesa, AZ, 85206).
