Bonnie Jean Michalka, born April 25, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Leo and Alton Pinch, passed away on December 14, 2014 at the age of 82 in Mesa, Arizona. Bonnie had many careers throughout her life from being an Elementary School teacher in La Mesa, California to working at the First Interstate Bank and for 16 years, Bonnie worked as an Patient Administrator for the V.A. Clinic. She was very active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW); an active member of the Eastern Star, the Order of True Kindred, the Order of the Amaranth and other Masonic organizations. She was a member of Central Christian Church for several years. Bonnie was a true servant to others and would always lend a hand to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George J. Michalka and her brother James Pinch. Bonnie will be remembered by her loving children Christie (David) Gruye, Dawn Lee, Edward (Linda) Lindsay and Faith (Darrel Steele) Mapps. sister Virginia (Frank) Lacher and brother Jack (Shirley) Pinch. She is also survived by her grandchildren David and Lindsay Gruye, Jesse and Kevin Lee, William, Andrea, Tasha, Emily and Jillian Lindsay, and Taylor Mapps as well as one great grandchild, Athena Nelson. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Rd, Mesa AZ. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Central Christian Church, 933 North Lindsay Road, Mesa, AZ 85213. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or VFW Post #7401 in Chandler, Arizona.
