We announce, with great sadness, Bonita Kravitz's passing on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Bonita passed away peacefully at her home at 8:00 AM from endometrial cancer. She was born on May 5, 1949, at The Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn, NY to Florence and Seymour Goodman.
Bonita graduated from H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, New York, and obtained her Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene from The State University of NY-Farmingdale. She practiced dental hygiene for almost 35 years.
On August 10, 1969, Bonita married Arthur Kravitz. They recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary and 60 years of friendship. They lived and worked in the New York City area for another 10 years before settling in Hillsborough, New Jersey, in 1979. Thirty years later, they moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they resided until her passing.
Throughout her life, Bonita was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, wife, aunt, sister-in-law, niece, cousin, and confidante to countless friends. Her greatest purpose in life was supporting friends, family, and communities, often putting their needs before her own. Bonita was spirited and gave her best advice to all. She was incredibly smart and intuitive. People would gravitate to her, and she made friends easily. Bonita loved to cook, knit, hike, kayak, and be with her family, especially her grandson, who brought her the most joy in life. Of course, her favorite pastime was using colorful language with her strong Brooklyn accent.
Bonita is survived by her husband, Arthur; her sons Jason Kravitz (and his wife Shann Chang), and Joshua Kravitz (and his partner Jason Kersey), and her grandson Jackson Kravitz. She will be dearly missed by her sister Sharon Schwartz (and her husband Lyle), her sister-in-law Marilyn Drake, her nieces Jennifer Caceres (and her husband Edwin), Stephany Kohler (and her husband Jay), her nephews Matthew Drake and Mitchell Drake (and his wife Melissa). Joining her immediate family in sorrow is her Aunt Myrna Sarter (and her husband Lester), her cousins Rhonda Gold, Brian Sarter, and Hillary Friedberg, and her many close friends, including Allen Tarr and Kathleen Shepler.
Donations can be made to honor her to the Foundation for Women’s Cancer to further the research efforts for endometrial cancer.
