Aundria (Thigpen) Teel, a beloved mother and dear friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on November 13, 1943, in Commerce, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Frank Thigpen and Valerie (Lytle) Adair. Aundria spent her early years in Commerce before moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico and then Thousand Oaks, California, where she made a lasting impact on both her community and family. In her later years, she retired in Mesa, Arizona, alongside her late husband, Willie Teel.
Aundria was known for her boundless kindness, her generous spirit, and her deep commitment to family. Her love for her daughters, extended family, and close friends was immeasurable, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen and heard, always offering a compassionate ear and sound advice when needed.
Aundria’s passions included music, playing the piano, dancing, and traveling on cruises. Her vibrant personality made each experience all the more memorable. A woman of faith, she drew strength from her beliefs, and her life was guided by love, grace, and a quiet wisdom. Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and caring heart will be missed by all who knew her.
After dedicating many years to raising her daughters, Aundria embraced a variety of roles in her professional life, including sales, wedding planning, and entertainment management. She had a gift for forming lasting friendships with her coworkers. A proud member of the Eastern Star and former member of the Elks Lodge, Aundria’s heart belonged to her beloved Dallas Cowboys, the bluebonnets of Texas, and her cherished cats. She was forever proud of her home state, and its spirit lived on in her.
Aundria is survived by her daughters, Melanie McEvoy of Mesa, Arizona, and Taunya James of Roy, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, Mike McEvoy.
A memorial service to honor Aundria’s life will be held at the clubhouse at Dolce Vita in Apache Junction on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Arizona Humane Society in her memory.
Although Aundria is no longer with us, her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
May she rest in peace.
