Peggy Ann Russo

Peggy Ann Carter Russo, 81, of Merritt Island, Florida, was called to Heaven on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Mrs. Russo was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia on January 18, 1940, to the late Charlie "Joe" Carter and Eva Shelton Carter. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Joseph “Reggie” Carter of Orlando.

On September 24, 1982, Peggy married Donald C. Russo who survives. Peggy is also survived by four children: Michael Kendrick (Jane), Peggy Hedrick, Ron St. Marie, and Rhonda Dignazio; four stepchildren: Rusty Russo, Margaret Klerner, Patti Huau, and Bobby Russo. Mrs. Russo is also survived by 19 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Russo also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law, Freda Carter, and two nephews and a niece; and a host of extended family members.

Peggy will always be remembered as a dedicated wife and mother, a fiercely loyal friend, and a hard worker. She always had a smile and a funny story to share with all those she met, and Peggy never met a stranger!

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island with her grandson Joe Kendrick officiating. Interment will follow at Brevard Memorial Cemetery in Cocoa, Florida.
