Born Mary Lee Nutter in Gauley Bridge W. VA in 1925 to J.O. Nutter and Freda Kitchen Nutter. She had two brothers, James, and Alvin Nutter.
She was educated in West Virginia. She graduated from Montgomery HS and attended West Virginia Tech.
In 1945 Mary Lee gave birth to her beautiful daughter Sharon (Sherry) Lee Grogan.
Skilled in office procedures, and with the trust of her colleges, Mary Lee worked as a legal secretary for 20 years in Indianapolis, IN.
In 1961 Mary Lee was ‘swept off her feet’ by the love of her life, the dashing and charming Joe Partlow and they wed in 1963 in FL where they would make their home and live out their love and their lives. They enjoyed having company, entertaining friends from far and wide. They also traveled, visiting friends and especially daughter Sherry and her family.
Mary Lee loved nature as evidenced by her lovely gardens and well-tended plants. She liked to hike and was always interested in others’ stories. She communicated by phone with many dear friends right up until her death.
She had a strong faith all her life and loved participating in her church wherever she lived. She was a faithful servant and volunteer of the Orsino Baptist Church in Merritt Island, FL during the last decades of her life.
“Granny” as her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her, was a loving and fun as well as wise companion. She loved sharing her FL beaches, her warm and welcoming home and encouraging each of them to be their very best.
She is greatly missed by her daughter Sherry Loftis, granddaughters Heather (Chris) McInnish, and Shannon Wall, great granddaughter Caroline McInnish, great grandsons Brody and Kelly Wall. As well by stepchildren Connie Metcalf, Jeff Partlow, and step grandchildren Chad and Matt Dautrich, and Amy Case. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers as well as her beloved Joe.
A celebration of Life Service will be held October 26 at 2 p.m. at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island. A reception will follow at Mary Lee’s home at 2165 Windsor Dr., Merritt Island.

A memorial service for Mary will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 North Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island.
