Mary Ann Dill

Mary Ann was born on March 25, 1935 in Orange NJ, to John Edwin and Agatha May Conklin. She married George Leo Morookian and went on to have four children; Ann, Beth, Paul and Maria. They settled in Beavercreek, Ohio, where Mary Ann was a homemaker and worked various part time jobs as substitute teacher or bookkeeper. She and George divorced after 20 years of marriage, and she relocated to Lakewood, NJ, where she fell for her second husband,John Dill, over many long chats at the donut shop in which she worked 3rd shift. Later in life, she also worked as an elder caregiver.

Mary Ann always had a wandering soul. She loved to wander aimlessly, driving and taking roads that looked interesting just to see where they went and never worried about getting lost (this was in a time with no GPS). She also was a bit stubborn and didn’t like being told what to do, but she had a kind heart and would give the shirt off her back to help anyone, even a total stranger. She actually never considered people strangers, just someone she hadn’t met and laughed with yet.

Mary Ann loved to sing silly songs (learned from her days as a Girl Scout group leader), and could always be roused into another song or verse, because she loved making people laugh. She often said that you are only as happy as you decide to be, and she tried to always keep a positive attitude. She will be missed.

Mary Ann is predeceased by her parents, and she is survived by her brother John Edwin Conklin, Jr of Antrim, NH and her sister Carol Helen Sommer of Coronado, CA; her children

Services will be Monday, December 16 from 10am- noon at Wylie-Baxley Funeral home at 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL
