John Lindsey passed away on September 10, 2022, at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, FL. He was born on October 15, 1931, in Hanceville, AL to John Lindsey and Rushie Maddox. John was married to Elizabeth “Betty” Geanne O’Donnell on July 2, 1951. She passed away on June 11, 2011. John is survived by two children, Janice Lindsey Fauske (James, deceased) and Ronald David Lindsey (Cheryl). He is survived by 5 Grandchildren: Dena Fauske (Nick Petta), Chelsea Keenan (Trevor) Sells, Dominic Keenan, Sean Keenan and Cierra Lindsey. He is predeceased by His brothers Cliff (Zelda) Lindsey, Jack (Betty) Lindsey, Bobbie (Katie) Lindsey and his sister Doris (Harmon deceased) Chapman. He is survived by his sister Edna (Don deceased) White, and his sisters-in-law Zelda, Betty, and Katie.
After serving 11 years in the US Air Force, John began a career in electronics, working for Raytheon in Huntsville, AL and Wyle Laboratories in Hampton VA, where he served as Vice President before retiring. He also briefly owned his own television sales and repair business. He graduated with a BS from Nichols State University and earned an MBA from Old Dominion University. John was an avid golfer, playing 3-4 times a week into his late 80’s.
John and his wife Betty moved to Cocoa Beach 22 years ago and were active members of Rockledge Church of Christ, both were teaching classes and John was an Elder. They both deeply cherished their fellowship with the congregation there, and they had many close, supportive friends among their fellow Christians.
John was an intelligent and giving person who consistently helped and supported friends, family and those he in need. He positively influenced many people in his lifetime and was generous to others in both resources and spirit.
