Jerry B. Crute passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the age of 85. Born February 21, 1933 in Benton, Kentucky, Jerry worked as an ophthalmic dispenser in Paducah, Kentucky before moving to Merritt Island in 1967. He earned degrees in Math and Physics at Murray State University and a Master’s degree in Management from Florida Institute of Technology. He was employed by NASA at Kennedy Space Center as an electrical engineer and test director for 24 years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Jackson Crute, his daughters Gina Loria (Mark) of Oviedo, FL, Tana Flickinger (Bruce) of Merritt Island FL, grandchildren Jared Lansing, Erena Loria, Logan Flickinger, and Evan Flickinger as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James Crute and Gladys Sutherland, and his sister, Joan Crittendon.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 20 at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home at 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island. Services will be held the following day, Saturday, July 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Brevard Memorial Park at 320 Spring Street, Cocoa, Florida 32927.
