Merritt Island - Passed away unexpectedly in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 68 on September 14th, 2020. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his immediate family, his wife Tracey, daughter Alexandra, and sons James, Dylan, Kelly, and Rex, and 3 grand children. Jerry was born in Detroit , Michigan on November 21st, 1951. He graduated from Michigan State in 1976, and shortly thereafter was commissioned in the United States Navy as a naval aviator, call sign “Sparky.” Jerry served 8 years in the Navy flying the F-4S Phantom aircraft before embarking on a 31 year career as a commercial pilot with Delta Air Lines. Jerry had a pure passion for flying, and he genuinely enjoyed his flying career with Delta, which he dearly missed when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. Jerry is survived by his wife, Tracey, of 23 years, together, they had 2 children, Alexandra and James. Jerry had a love for family and friends and will be remembered for his kind, generous and loving nature; he always looked for the good in people. He had a wealth of knowledge that he was eager to share with his sons and daughter. Jerry had a true love for reading and would spend many a day reading his monthly motor cycle and car magazines to re-reading the Harry Potter books. He had a passion collecting British classic motor cycles and took motor bike adventures around the United States with his sons and father in law, Ray, His fondest biking memories were meandering through the British countryside with Ray, and finishing the day with a pint of Guinness with the locals. Jerry’s motor bike adventures took him far and wide to Europe, England, Scotland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and Ireland. Jerry will be sadly missed by his family across the pond, his in-laws Ray and Kathy, brother-in-law Michael (Amanda, Chloe, Charles), brother-in-law Gary (Katherine, Melissa, Eleanor and Olivia), and all the locals at the New Inn, Clifford Chambers, England who have had the pleasure of crossing Jerry’s path over the past 25 years during his travels with his family. Friends will be received at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home (1360 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953) on Wednesday October 28th, 2020 at 2:00PM for a Celebration of Life Service. Jerry will be laid to rest with military honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on October 29, 2020 2:15PM (5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerome T. Weber’s name to the Lymphoma Research Foundation or any cancer research of your choice or the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.
