A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Charles Lynch Brady, 87 of Cocoa Beach, FL crossed to his heavenly home on Tuesday December 16, 2014.
Charlie was born December 13, 1927 in Iredell County and was the son of Escar and Sallie Brady. He served in the Marine Corps for two years before graduating from Mitchell College and Appalachian State University. He taught and coached at Central High School in Statesville, NC before relocating , in 1957 to the Washington DC area. There he taught and coached at Gaithersburg High School in Montgomery County, MD for 34 years. He was also a charter member of Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church.
Also in 1957, he married Martha Jean Templeton and they enjoyed 57 years together living in Laytonsville, MD. Upon retirement in 1992 they relocated to Cocoa Beach Florida and joined the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island. Charles’ enormous servants heart was seen in his service to the homeless at the House of Hope Food and Bike Ministry where he was known especially for his generosity and kindness to children in need.
Besides his wife, Charles is survived by three children: Joan Brady Coye (Wade), Dr. Scott Charles Brady (Pamela) of Orlando, and Dr. Paul Christopher Brady (Jennifer) of Knoxville, TN. He is also the proud grandfather of eleven: Austin, Brady and Parker Coye; Abby, Lydia, Sarah and Hannah Brady and Meredith, Davis, Garrett and Hayden Brady.
He is preceded in death by six brothers: Escar Jr, Ray, Coyte, Trent, Frank and Bill Brady and three sisters: Virginia Brady, Edna Claire and Celeste Colson.
Charlie will be honored at a memorial service at 2pm on Saturday December 20, 2014, in the chapel of the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, 140 Magnolia Avenue, Merritt Island, FL 32952. Visitation with the family will be in the hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the House of Hope Ministry at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.
