Al will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years (Aug.1968) Myra and his only child Laurette Andrea (Justin Shap). Also greatly missing him are his treasured grandson Bowen River (2003)and grand-daughter Skyler Rose (2007) - his pride & joy, always. Al is loved by his large extended family; Tania, Stevie Dawn, Kyle, Maureen (David), Marnie (Wayne), Michelle (Koert), Monty, Mindy, Mitzi, Marc, Melanie, the Ireland family and many neices, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and their families.
Al built our forever home in Maple Ridge on the Allouette River, where we lived for 50+ years - raised our daughter, birthed our grandson - we lived a wonderful family life. In final years we happily hosted people from all over the world in our holiday suite (River & Rose B&B). In 2017 we followed our daughter her husband and grandkids to settle in beautiful Lower Nicola. Al's love of family was paramount.
A millwright by trade Al was an innovator - he loved to build, plan, construct and fabricate; he loved to learn. He had a forever motto of "If I can do it myself, I sure the hell will!" He loved science and new knowledge; he was forever investigating to seek out new information.
He rebuilt and enjoyed his turquiose TR3 convertible with a 357 V8, 52 Murc pickup & 73 Corvette Stingray. He loved his quad and exploring on our quads, loved time with our club & friends, he loved nature (old mines & settlements especially) and our beautiful BC. We explored across Canada in our Vette and again in our motorhome, getting into every corner possible - we loved Newfoundland & Labrador. We explored most of BC, always holidaying every summer, a few times with our daughter from early infancy. In later years we all holidayed together - Disneyland, Disneyworld, Maui, quad & camping trips, good times in Nakusp.
He is so loved and will be so greatly missed. ❤
A Celebration of Life for Al will be held on October 16th at the family home.
