Polly Hardy passed away peacefully in Merritt, BC on September 14, 2022, at the age of 90 years. Polly will be lovingly remembered by her son Douglas Hardy (Marianne) of Merritt, BC, her three grandchildren Melissa Hardy, Ashleigh LeBeau (Adam), Sarah Hardy (Robert Scott), and her great grandchild Aubrey LeBeau and her many friends. She is predeceased by both parents, Carl and Paraska “Polly” (nee Tokar) Chernhoski, husband Allan Hardy, sisters: Joyce Horbay, Sophie Schwark, Mary Popowich, Madeline Biluk, and brother Peter Chernhoski.
At the age of 15 Polly became a telephone operator, working in Manitoba for 25 years in the communities of Teulon, Emerson and Deloraine. After finishing with the telephone service, she provided 40 plus years of service to the community of Deloraine and Winchester area. She was a staple at the Doc Bonar Memorial Arena, the Deloraine Winchester Campground (Elks), and other community organizations. She was awarded volunteer of the year in 2012 and received many other community recognitions throughout the years for the Westman Region. She always had a smile and positive comments for everyone she met.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Deloraine, Manitoba.
