Mark Elling Texmo

1961 – 2021

The family of Mark Texmo is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday Feb. 12th.

He is survived by his spouse Peggy; 4 children: Sarah, Steven, Scott and Gary; his brothers: Darrell, Rick, Ian, Erik and Rory, plus many loving nieces, nephews and extended family across Canada.

He was predeceased by his parents Anna and Jerry.

Mark was born in Manitoba and raised in Lac du Bonnet. He was the 2nd eldest of 6 boys born to Anna and Jerry Texmo.

Life was a riot on the farm, where the hijinks were never ending and a day filled with fun included chopping down a tree with the other 5 brothers in it, to give them a thrill-ride as it fell.

In 1977, Jerry moved the family to Port Hardy, BC where the boys resided into their teen years, and Mark started his automotive mechanic’s apprenticeship at Ed Klassen GM.

Mark then started his own family, married Shelley, and together they raised 2 boys of their own – Gary and Scott.

Seeking future opportunities, Mark moved his family to Merritt, BC where he started at the new GM dealership there – Brian Dafoe Motorcade. In Merritt, he fully enjoyed the abundance of wildlife and hunting opportunities. He was also active in the Men’s Rec Hockey league and body-building with his work buddies.

New opportunities took him to Kelowna where he was the Head Service Technician at Jacobson GM for many years. Following that, Mark returned to Merritt where he was employed at Murray GM, then seeking independence he started his own automotive repair shop with his dad – T & T Automotive in 1994. During these years he was actively snowmobiling, fishing and hunting moose, deer, grouse and more. He met and married Peggy and together they started their own family with their son Steven and daughter Sarah.

With Jerry’s impending retirement, they closed T & T, then Mark started at Tolko Industries in Merritt, where he finished working 9 1/2 years later when they closed. Mark still enjoyed hunting and fishing, searching for the elusive “Walter”, bonding with his nephews and kids while sharing his love of the great outdoors and the power and precision of his enviable rifle collection.

Photographs tell the story of Mark’s life-long journey, sharing fun-filled times with family and friends, forever in pursuit of the Great Out Doors.

A gathering of family and friends will take place when Covid restrictions allow.
