Maria was born January 3, 1933 in Belen del Refugio Jalisco Mexico to Cruz Olmos and Elvira Jauregui and was raised in Encarnacion De Diaz Jalisco along with her six siblings. On January 1952 she married her lifelong partner Pedro Jimenez Zermeno.
In 1962 they immigrated with their son Miguel Angel to the Southern California area where their second son Rosario Pedro was born. They resided there until the early 1970’s before moving to the Central Valley where they made their home in Planada, CA and where their last four children were born.
She made a living as a seasonal line sorter in local canneries and was a member of the Sacred Heart Chruch, The Guadalupanas and Comite Mexicano of Merced, Ca.
She enjoyed and loved taking part in cooking tamales, sopes and menudo with the Guadalupanas, her friends and comadres. She also loved contributing to charity such as St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital and donated her time and afternoon’s to doing yard duty on Catechism days at Sacred Heart Church.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband Pedro Jimenez of 54 years and survived by her six children; Miguel Angel Jimenez, Rosario Pedro Jimenez, Luis Manuel Jimenez, David Fernando Jimenez, Alfredo Jimenez and Lilia Jimenez, fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A visitation for Maria will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95340. A vigil service with rosary will follow beginning at 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9317 Amistad Street, Planada, CA 95365. Interment will follow services at Calvary Cemetery, 260 W. Childs Avenue, Merced, CA 95341.
