Many years have passed since most members of the James E. Shepard School, Class of '66 have seen, spoken to and interacted with John Swazie Smith.  For many of us, our last words with him was during our first Class Reunion, held in Raleigh, NC. Nevertheless, good and positive memories are lasting memories. We remember John as a person who was fun to be with and easy to get along with. Although our encounters have been infrequent, we've been blessed to count him among our friends.
