Michael Otto Hanson was born at Beverly Hospital in Montebello, California on February 15, 1961. He lived in the Whittier School District most of his life. He attended Scott Ave Elementary School, Granada Middle School and graduated with honors from Monte Vista High School in 1979. Also, he was part of the water polo team.
He worked for Dial-A-Ride in the City of La Mirada, where he learned to navigate the surrounding areas. His passion for driving was shown there for a few months before he was hired by Federal Express. He was proud and passionate about being a courier at JDY, Santa Fe Springs location and was happy to retire after 35 years in 2023.
Besides drinking black coffee, his other favorite past time and hobby was fishing. It didn’t matter if the weather was sunny or rainy, he would fish anywhere and anytime. He enjoyed teaching and showing others how to fish, sometimes sharing his “secrets” on different baits to use depending on which fish to catch.
He had a heart of gold! He loved and cared for his family and friends. He was always there whenever you needed him. Rod and Steve were his best friends and had known them for decades. Their children and other families knew him as “Uncle Mike.”
Our hearts are forever broken until we see him again when we join him in heaven.
A funeral service for Michael will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Miller-Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Menifee, CA 92585, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
