Mr. Stanley Eugene Phillips Sr.

Stanley Eugene Phillips, Sr., was born September 22, 1956, the ninth child born to the late Josh and Maggie Phillips. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

Stanley was a 1975 graduate of Carver High School in Memphis and later graduated from Memphis Area Vo-Tech with an Associate’s Degree and Certification as a Machinist. After graduating, Stanley became an employee of Richards Medical Company, currently Smith & Nephew. He was extremely excited about his job as a Manufacturing Associate and was able to retire from Smith & Nephew in late 2018 after forty-one years of service.

Stanley met his “Sweet Love” (as he would refer to her), Climmie Jessica Phillips, at Smith & Nephew, and they were later united together as husband and wife. From this union and with God’s direction, they stayed on the journey together for thirty years. He was dedicated to his family and was a wonderful husband, a responsible father, a supportive brother and brother-in-law, a fun uncle, and a great friend.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joshia Haley, Claude Phillips, Clara Hornburger, and James Phillips.

Stanley transitioned to his new place called “Home” on Sunday, August 2, 2020, at 2:09 a.m. To cherish his wonderful memories are: his loving wife, Climmie Jessica Phillips; one son, Stanley E. Phillips, Jr., of San Diego, California; three daughters, Shawntrell L. Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Sharri M. Reddick of Memphis, Tennessee, and Sharnecia J. Phillips of Woodbridge, Virginia; eight grandchildren, ShaMarious, ShaMarcous, ShaMyia, Sentrise, Layla, ShaMario, Landon, and Logan; and one great-grandchild, Mahki. He leaves four siblings, Elizabeth Wallace (Albert), Floyd Phillips (Frances), Joseph Phillips, Jr. (Christine), and Vanessa Bradfield (Everette); six additional sisters-in-law, Regina Phillips (Claude), Varise Phillips (James), Lillie Clinton, Beatrice Wallace, & Thelma Rimmer, all of Memphis, Tennessee, and Alprett Young of Silver Springs, Maryland; five additional brothers-in-law, Calvin Haley (Joshia) of Memphis, Tennessee, Isaiah Johnson (Natalyn) of Southaven, Mississippi, Woodrow Wallace of Silver Springs, Maryland, and Climmie Johnson & James Johnson of Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Stanley also leaves nieces and nephews who have always been there to support him throughout his journey, Briggitte Dangler, Chandra Ward, George Hornburger, Jr., Sandra Clinton, Terrance Phillips, and Latisha Phillips; and a host of other relatives and friends.
