Shirley Thompson Burkeen

She was born to the late Herman L. and Arminta Johns Thompson on December 6, 1933, in Memphis, Tennessee. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband James “Jim” Burkeen. She is survived by many family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Shirley was a member of Covenant Baptist Church and spent countless hours studying God’s word through Bible Study Fellowship. She retired from Aetna Insurance after many years as an insurance service representative. Shirley was a generous supporter of many charities and organizations.

Memorials may be made to her church, Covenant Baptist, Collierville, Tennessee.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 am, Monday, June 17th at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, with visitation from 9-10 am.
