With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosemary Dacus Dean on October 8, 2024, at the Henderson Health Facility in Henderson, Tennessee. Born on September 19, 1930, Rosemary lived a vibrant and fulfilling life.
A graduate of White Station High School, Rosemary pursued a career in accounting, offering her expertise to various businesses in Memphis. Her professional journey concluded with a tenure at a carpet company in Bartlett, during which she also worked part-time at Dillard’s and Memphis Funeral Home until the age of 73.
Rosemary had many passions: she enjoyed playing Bunko with her ladies' group, taking up league bowling at the Park Avenue Bowling Facility, and water skiing—a skill she joyfully passed down to her sons and nieces and nephews. Blessed with an adventurous spirit, Rosemary traveled extensively, sharing memorable journeys with church friends and her sister-in-law, Jeffie Dacus.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Dean; her parents, Darrell and Maud Dacus; and her brothers, Jack Dacus and James Dacus.
Rosemary's memory will forever be cherished by her sons, George Root Jr. (Nona) and David Root (Lori); her grandchildren, George Root III, Nathaniel Root (Erin), Natalie Root, and Charli Watson (Phil); and her great-grandchildren, Lillian Rose Root and Filomena Corinne Root, who affectionately called her "GIGI."
A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery, 435 South Mt. Pleasant Rd., Collierville, TN 38017, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Woodland Hills Church of Christ, organizations she held dear to her heart.
