Lt. Colonel Richard L. Spreitzer, USMC, Ret., 77, of Cordova passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. He was retired from the US Marines, received his MBA from the University of Memphis and taught small business administration at State Tech. Mr. Spreitzer, the husband of Betty J. Spreitzer for 55 years, also leaves 3 sons, Richard Lane (Carol) Spreitzer, Jr. of Eminence, KY, Craig Martin (Nancy) Spreitzer of Atlanta, GA and John Carlton Spreitzer of Cordova; and two grandchildren, Richard Lane Spreitzer, III and Rebecca Lauren Spreitzer. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, March 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 8 at the funeral home with interment to follow in West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to either the Epilepsy Foundation of West Tennessee, 3131 N. Highland Ave., Suite 61 D, Jackson, TN 38305 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
