Peggy Jean Kirkpatrick, age 84, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Peggy was born October 3, 1937, Ridgely, Tennessee, to John William Greer and Winnie Virginia McCoy Greer.
Peggy was a retired hairdresser and tour guide for several travel companies in Memphis. She loved to write short stories, paint, and sew. She was a talented seamstress. She also was a Weight Watchers instructor. Peggy loved cats and wolves.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John "Jay" William Kirkpatrick; son, Stephen Shaneyfelt (Tammy); step-children, John Kirkpatrick Jr. (Lynn), Leslie Finney (Ross), Todd Kirkpatrick, Christian (Nicole) and Camille Rogers (Mike); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kirkpatrick; and brother, John Wesley Greer (Vicki). Peggy was preceded in death by her step-son, Eric Kirkpatrick.
The family will receive friends and celebrate her life at a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 27 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue.
Memorials contributions should be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at the request of the family.
