Patricia Wilkinson was born on June 11, 1956 in Memphis, TN. Her father, Willard Ladd was a member of the United States Army and as a result the family relocated several times over the years before her father’s retirement. Patricia had the pleasure of living in Okinawa, Germany, and finally El Paso, Texas where she graduated high school before moving back to Memphis, TN.
Patricia worked in the restaurant industry, as a medical assistant, and as a caregiver for many years, both as a nursing assistant, home health care provider, and finally a caregiver to both her parents, Willard & Betty Ladd. She felt blessed to be able to care for her parents in their time of need. Once she became a grandmother, Patricia also spent lots of time providing care for her grandchildren. While many may think that this time spent caring for others was burdensome, we can assure you that was not the case. Patricia loved caring for others and felt so grateful to be able to spend time with the people she loved most.
Patricia was always thinking about others and will be remembered by her kind heart and devotion to the Lord. She was a faithful member for many years at Berclair Church of Christ. In her free time, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling, reading, cross stitching, puzzles, and spending time with her grandkids. She adored her grandchildren and loved being a nana.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Willard & Betty Ladd and her brother, Richard Ladd. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Robert Wilkinson; and her daughter, Tonya Wood (married to Scott Wood); her son Bryan Wilkinson (married to Cortney Wilkinson), six beautiful grandchildren; Hailee Wilkinson, Morgan Wilkinson, Isaiah Wood, Jaida Wood, Lacey Wilkinson, & Aidan Wood; and her spoiled and vivacious furry friend, Lola. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Reber, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were like family to her.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 14th at 1pm at Family Funeral Care located at 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN followed by a memorial service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Patricia by making donations to the American Cancer Society or the Memphis Humane Society.
