Butch was born in Hayward, WI on November 29, 1939. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1957, served for three years as an army paratrooper, and then earned a degree in business from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Butch married Kathleen (Kit) O’Beirne, his one and only wife, on June 27, 1964. They were married for 56 years and had two daughters. He worked as a Division Chief for the IRS for 31 years.
Butch enjoyed golf, ice fishing, watching sports, and frugally visiting the casino. After retirement, he did all the grocery shopping and cooking for his family. He was an amazing late-career chef and grill master. He loved taking cruises with his wife, and together they went on twenty-three. But most of all, he loved his family and was immensely proud of everyone in it.
Butch is survived by his devoted wife, Kit, daughters Sheri Joseph and Jill Hopkins, grandchildren Emma Trigg, Justin Hopkins, and Claire Hopkins, and his sister Darlene Ahrenkiel. Butch is predeceased by his sister Carol Odden, mother Caroline Fandrey, stepfather Norman Fandrey, and father Wolfred Joseph.
