I am a sorority sister of Deidra Nelson, Ms. Nelson’s daughter.
I never had the pleasure of meeting  Soror Nelson, but the love that Deidra had for her mom was heartfelt.
Deidre and her mom had such a very special bond. You could feel the warmth in every photo of the two of them!
I send you prayers and comfort Deidra, during this very difficult time.

Mrs. Nelson was a classy lady who loved God, her family and her church. I will miss seeing her elegance in the Conference.  My prayers are for the family.  May God strengthen and comfort you in the days ahead.

I have such fond memories of Soror Laverne during various times of my life! She supported me as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on the campus of Rhodes College.  She was there when I received my honorary doctorate from Shorter College.  And I could always count on her pleasant smile and encouraging words every time we met during any AME event. Laverne Nelson was a solid rock for the UAPB/AM&N alumni association. Her leadership and steadfastness over many years will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Peace and blessings to her family and friends.
