Jeanne Murrell Rose, 90, died December 8, 2021, at the Memphis Jewish Home. She grew up in both Macon and La Grange, TN, where one of her fondest childhood memories was swimming in the Wolf River with her friends. She attended Fayette County High School, Stephens College, and Memphis State University. She was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis and regularly attended the Chapel Class with her husband.
Jeanne possessed tremendous energy and charm. She decorated extensively for every holiday and was an avid gardener. She was tenderhearted toward animals of all kinds, but especially horses, dogs, and cats.
Jeanne was the only child of Lemuel Quincy Murrell and Eldredge Bailey Murrell, both of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, A. P. Rose, Jr., and is survived by her three children, Mike Rose, Angie Rose, and Candy Duke. She leaves three grandchildren, Hallie Rose Eble, Alexa Rose, and Kate Duke; her great-grandchild, Perry Eble; her godchild Kelly Cox; and her one donkey, Mr. Bojangles. Private graveside services were held on December 13 at the Macon Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and professionalism of the entire staff of Memphis Jewish Home. Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
