James Alexander Montgomery, 80, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on March 21, 2018. Mr. Montgomery was born in Johnson City, Tennessee and raised in Jackson. He attended Lambuth College before graduating Memphis State University. He later joined the faculty in the biology department at Memphis State. Jim married the love of his life, Barbara Hopkins Montgomery, in 1962. In 1968, Jim became a pharmaceutical representative with Ayerst Laboratories. After his retirement in 2000, he enjoyed more time with his grandchildren and playing golf. Jim was a long time member of Windyke Country Club and an avid golfer. Jim is survived by son, Van Montgomery (Carrie), daughters Tiffany Kelso (Cliff), and Lynne Long (Chad). Jim was so proud of his three grandchildren, Menzie Montgomery, Savannah Kelso, and Tate Kelso. The family will host a celebration of Jim's life at two o'clock on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee with a reception following.
