He graduated from Millington Central High School in 1984. He loved cars and enjoyed a lifelong career in the race car business. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. James was devoted to his mother and cared for her lovingly for 12 years after his father's passing. He took great pride in maintaining his yard immaculately. He was a talented mechanic and loved his Siberian huskies.
James was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his children, Samantha Humphrey, Megan Humphrey, and James C. Humphrey; mother, Anne M. Humphrey; and sister, Theresa D. Wilkins (James).
The family would like to extend their thanks to James' very close friends, Jerry and Christina Ewing, Jackie and Linda Langston, and John Callies and his wife.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Tuesday, August 31 beginning at 9:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home - Poplar Chapel. A funeral service celebrating James' life will be held at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
