David Allen Mathews

David Allen Mathews, 62, of Memphis, TN went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2022. He was born November 10, 1959, in Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Hilda Mathews and his sister, Sherry Mathews.

David served in the United States Air Force as aircraft maintenance specialist. He was an active member of Germantown Baptist Church and participated as a wise man in the Living Nativity. He also served with Brinkley Heights ministry, AWANAs, and football and basketball camps at church. David enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with model builds, taking photos (especially of his son playing football) and watching Dallas Cowboys football.

In addition to his longtime companion of 23 years, Nancy Durbin, he is survived by two sons, Anthony Mathews and Oscar (Teri) Mathews; one grandson, Sebastian Mathews; niece, Jessie (Guy) Fox; aunt and uncle Jerry and Rose Wilson; many other aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog, Jack.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM with services to follow at 1PM at Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38139. The Committal Service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 9AM until 9:20 AM at West Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene, Memphis, TN 38105.
