She is preceded in death by her mother, Thelma and her mother-in-law, Brenda Wade-Shepard.
In addition to her wonderful husband, Duane and their 6 children, she leaves behind her father, Roosevelt Haywood Sr., maternal grandmother, Flora (Tony) Walker; 9 siblings: Roosevelt (Kristy) Haywood of Midlothian, TX; Algesa (Gale) Haywood of Mound Bayou, MS; Joann (Freddy) Gabriel of Forth Worth, TX; Angela (Timothy) Ervin of Florissant, MO; Kenyotta (Chanel) Haywood of Waco, TX; Matthew Haywood of Waco, TX; Makeesha (Darrick) Massey of Jackson, MS; Tabitha (Jeremy) Hinton of Horn Lake, MS; Damarcus Haywood of Memphis, TN; and one sister-in-law, Yolanda Shepard. She leaves behind a special aunt, Pearl (Sid) Powell of Calumet Park, IL and three special cousins, Katrina Haywood and Alexis Quinn of Chicago, IL and Byron Powell of Calumet Park, IL; a host of cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
A wake for Carolyn will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119. The soros of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will hold an Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony beginning at 6:30 PM, at the funeral home.
A second wake will occur Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 7289 Stage Rd, Memphis, TN 38133. Carolyn's homegoing funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00, at the church.
