Bobbie Jean Freeman

Bobbie Jean Freeman, 76, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022. Bobbie graduated from Carver High School, LeMoyne–Owen College, and Memphis State University. She taught with Memphis City Schools for 31 years and, after retirement, continued to mentor students. She was a member of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, where she was a Youth New Members’ Class teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Willie Thomas of Memphis, TN, and her beloved husband of 38 years, Charles R. Freeman. She is survived by children, Eric (Raquel) and Traci, grandchildren Evan and Andrew, sisters Alice Lathan and Donnie Massey, brother John Ballentine (Bobbie), and a host of extended family and lifelong friends.

A visitation for Bobbie will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M. J. Edwards Whitehaven Funeral Chapel, 5494 Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee 38116. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, 70 N. Bellevue Boulevard, Memphis, TN 38104. A burial will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, Tennessee 38125.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LeMoyne-Owen College.
