Doris Welle

Doris Jean Welle, of Meeker, Colorado passed away August 26, 2021 at the age of 93. Doris is survived by her sons, Richard (Cindy) Welle and Thomas (Jill) Welle; grandchildren William “BJ” (Joely), Holli (Jason) Leiva, Jacob (Abby), Raymond Welle; great-grandchildren Chase, Cason, Conner, Andrew, Sarah, Trysta, Caitlin and Ainslee; and great-great grandchildren Ridley and Gracen. Doris is preceded in death by her husband William C. Welle; her parents Wallace and Leota Gove; sons William Lee Welle and Timothy F. Welle; and grandson Timothy R. Welle. Doris was an avid fisherman, spending many hours on the White River at the Welle Guest Ranch that Doris and Bill purchased in 1968. She was very devoted to her service with the Meeker Methodist Church, especially loving to bake pies to be sold on the 4th of July. Doris was part of the local sewing group and could always be found visiting the local yard sales in search of “treasures”. Doris also worked many years at the Meeker Elementary School lunch program and became known lovingly as “Grandma” to hundreds of children. Doris knew only friends and her goal was to share her love of the outdoors with everyone she encountered. Her passion for her family and friends will be ever present in the White River Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meeker United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
