Dillon Albert Hobbs was born in Craig, CO to Donald and Cassi Hobbs on August 31st, 2006. His older brother and sister were beyond excited to have a little brother. Dillon had an impact on everyone from the day he was born. His smile was infectious and contagious. No matter what the circumstance was you could never be mad at him. He would irritate you, but you couldn’t stay mad at him with his little grin he always gave you or the remarks he would come back with. Dillon had the most caring and loving soul. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Dillon was an outstanding dual sport athlete. He had natural athletic abilities, he excelled in both wrestling and football. He often practiced his newly learned moves on his sister. Dillon loved being able to look up in the stands and see his mom and whole family supporting him. He loved being able to spend time with his friends during these activities.
He loved being outdoors no matter what it was. Dillon and Bow always found new ways to build “rally lawn mowers” and always had to test them out. Often, they ended up having to push the machine back to the shop. They were always building something; a bucking barrel, bike jumps and always trying to make their bikes faster. It would be easier to name things those two didn’t build.
Dillon’s true passion was being a cowboy. He lived for the days he was able to move cows, hay, brand, and gather. Dillon had a true and natural ability with animals. He could read cows and was able to work them with the best of cowboys. When he wasn’t being a cowboy, he was always up to the challenging task of fixing vehicles with his dad.
Dillon was an excellent marksman. He loved to go hunting and fishing. His favorite was hunting deer and elk. He would often make it a competition between the three siblings, or anyone involved to see who could kill the biggest buck and or bull. One year he was so excited and stuck on this buck, it may not have been the biggest but “pencils” as he called it was the most memorable buck of his. He loved fishing and would often make that a competition as well. He had a competitive nature for all things that involved hunting and fishing. His ornery bantering with anyone involved solidified a memorable place in everyone’s heart.
Snowmobiling and riding his dirt bike were another favorite of his. Dillon and Kesston loved to take trips to the mountain to ride snowmobiles which created everlasting memories. Dillon loved to ride dirt bikes with his friends and always would come home with the greatest stories to tell about his adventures.
Dillon cherished his friends and families. He was one of the first to accept both of his bonus parents and loved both Amy and John. He always was willing to give anything to anyone who needed it. He always had to give someone a hard time no matter where we happened to be. Dillon impacted so many lives, just look around at how many people came today. Dillon never knew a stranger and had no enemies. He had a personality that is so radiant it made everyone else happy just to be around him. Dillon never had a dull moment; he always got the most out of every moment in life. He had a candid ability to always brighten up the room.
Dillon was amazing with little kids. They always gravitated towards him. He loved to wrestle and play with them; he had a knack with kids. Dillon was a people pleaser, he always wanted everyone to be okay before himself. Dillon’s kind and loving soul, radiant personality, infectious smile, and kind heart will forever be greatly missed. May his memory last forever, Long Live the Cowboy.
A celebration of Dillon's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Meeker High School. A reception will follow at the park.
