FAULKNER, Virginia Scott, 77, of Mechanicsville, Va., has bid farewell to her family and friends here on earth. On Thursday, March 30, 2017, she departed this life. She is at peace now, reunited with her beloved husband of 20 years, W. George Lester. Ms. Faulkner was preceded in death by her parents, W. Ramsey and Nellie H. Faulkner; and her first husband, Martin M. Goriczynski. Ms. Faulkner leaves behind her daughter, Theresa Goriczynski; and son-in-law J. Curtis Tucker. Virginia is also survived by cousins, Lynne H. Gardner, Richard H. Harrison, Eugene L. Harrison, Anne G. Allen and Phyllis Broaddus.
Following high school, Ms. Faulkner earned a business degree from Madison College. After her first marriage to Martin M. Goriczynski, the family moved to Florence, S.C., Frenchtown, N.J. and Smithfield, Va. In Smithfield, Virginia served as the Town Secretary.
After returning to Richmond, she worked in the Executive Secretary's Office of the Supreme Court of Virginia, and following that as Housing Coordinator at Westhampton College. She retired from Ethyl Corporation, where she held several executive secretarial positions. Virginia will be remembered well for her love of dogs and her generosity to the Hanover Humane Society. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116. Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Woody Funeral Home, Atlee Chapel, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Va. 23222.
