Charlie D. Pack, Jr. passed peacefully at home in the early morning of 1/19/23 at age 91. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sheila; and survived by his son, Gary (Beverley); Grandson, Dylan (Lauren); Granddaughter, Kori Neal (Carter); and 3 Great Grandchildren, Graham, Ella and Will. He was the oldest of four brothers who called him Junior. Charlie was born in Beckley WV in 1931 and was a proud Mountaineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked most of his adult life in accounting, until his retirement from Richmond Memorial Parks as an officer of the company. He was known for his smile, sense of humor and kindness. He loved to tell stories, never leaving out a single detail. He started every workday by telling his office staff a joke, usually corny, or an interesting fact. He was an exceptional handyman and carpenter, with skills that he learned from his father. He was a loyal fan of the REDSKINS, the Cincinnati Reds (because growing up it was the only team he could hear on the radio), the L.A. Lakers (because of fellow WV native Jerry West) and WVU (even though he attended what would become Marshall University). His greatest joy though, was his family. He loved them all beyond words. Time with “Grandan” was better than a day at Disney World. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, VA 23069.
Dress casually and for warmth.
