Carolyn Jean Elliott, age 74, of King William, passed away while in the loving presence of her family Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019. She was born July 4, 1944, in Bridgeville, DE, the daughter of the late Norman and Anna Mae Hill Morgan. Carolyn was a strong, determined and fiercely independent lady. After graduating high school, Carolyn met her late husband of 38 years, Lowell Wray Elliott, in Seaford, DE. The pair married and started a family before moving to Richmond, VA. Carolyn retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, Christmas, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Cheryl Lynne Greenday (Autie) of Mechanicsville, Gwynne Ann Bailey (Walt) of King William, Stacie Elliott Duff (Katie) of Glen Allen; one son, Lowell Wray Elliott Jr. of King William; several grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric J. Greenday, Megan and Michael A. Peterson, Dylan A. Bailey and Tyler A. Bailey, Harrison S. Duff and Grayson L. Duff; and two great grandchildren, Addilyn M. Greenday and Brayden R. Peterson. She also leaves many other family members, friends and neighbors who will fondly miss her. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Church of Redeemer in Mechanicsville. Burial will follow in the Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2019 at Woody Funeral Home on Shady Grove Road in Mechanicsville. Throughout her life, Carolyn was devoted to animals. She was active as a rescue volunteer and animal caregiver up until her passing. She is reuniting in death with her three beloved rescued companions, Taylor, Brinkley and Brandy. Those who choose to give a gift in honor Carolyn are asked to make a memorial contribution to the SPCA of Richmond.
