Funeral Services will be held 1:00p.m., Wednesday, January 14, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Ed Newman, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, at Cole Funeral Home, in McGregor, Texas.
Mildred was born August 3, 1935 in Aleman, Texas. She was the youngest child and only daughter to Max and Ida Wurbs. Mildred grew up speaking German but learned English when she went to school in Clifton, Texas. At the age of 16, Mildred married (Buster) Leo Newman July 7, 1952 in Gatesville, Texas. Buster and Mildred lived on the Newman home place in Eagle Springs, Texas that was destroyed by fire 3 months later. They then lived in the McGregor/Oglesby area where they raised five children. Mildred worked at Boggs shoe factory in Temple, the Deck Boat in Gatesville, and C&H Die Cast in Troy.
Mildred was a caring, giving, and loving person. All who knew her can attest to her selfless attitude; she would give the shirt off her back.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Leo “Buster” Newman; brothers, Herbert Wurbs, Clarence Wurbs, Max Wurbs and Herman Wurbs. She is also preceded in death by her loving grandson, James Ellis.
She will be missed and loved by her children, Ed Newman and wife Cathy, Curtis Newman and wife Lilly, Patsy Grinie, Juanita Robinson and husband Bobby and Debbie Ellis and husband David; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother Frank Wurbs and wife Pat and several other relatives and friends.
