Jim Storey

Jim Storey died late Friday afternoon, February 17, 2012, at his Moody residence. He was 77. Graveside services and interment will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Moody Cemetery under the direction of Cole Chapel of Moody with Chaplain Rodney Kruse officiating.

Mr. Storey was born May 5, 1934, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, the son of the late Knox Lester and Sarah (Arnold) Storey and attended school in Boonshill, Tennessee. He served his country in the United States Army for twenty-three years and served in Vietnam where he was decorated with many medals prior to his 1975 retirement. He was a member of the VFW and the National Officers Association in Washington, D.C. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering technology in 1974. On September 26, 1964, he married Arlyn Farhie in Miami, Florida and moved to Moody in 1976 from Concrete, North Dakota. While in Korea in 1967, he joined the Masonic Lodge and upon moving to Moody he became a member of the SZ Teague Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed raising pony’s and was very successful at harness racing them.

Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Arlyn Storey; two sons, Chuck Storey of Moody, Bill Storey and wife Lauren of Dallas, two daughters, Gwenn Dalton and husband Lonnie and Karla Marro and husband Sam both all Moody; a brother Joe Storey of St. Mary’s City, MD; a sister Dianne Tomlinson and husband John of Nolensville, TN; eight grandchildren, Jarrod Hessel, Evan Hessel, Arianna Storey, Erika Jeffers, Katlynn Storey, Madison Marro, Bella Storey, Ava Jaymes Storey; one great grandson, Judah James Hessel; extended family include several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and a former daughter-in-law, Jana Dauber and husband David.
