Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ray and Vera Marshall. Shirley is also predeceased by her husband James Relford and half-brother Paul Marshall.
She attended Northeastern High School and graduated in June 1959. She attended Lewis Business College and married James Relford in 1966 and one child was born in this union, Monica. She proceeded on to work as a Ward Secretary at Ziegler Hospital in Detroit, Michigan for over 25 years. She briefly worked at Botsford Senior Living Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan. After retiring in 2007 she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Lavon, Marnika and Mykahl on birthdays and holidays. In 2018 she moved to McDonough, Georgia to live with her daughter (Monica) and son-in-law (Terry)
Shirley was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends, whether it was attending a Cabaret or picnics in the park.
Shirley's memory lives on in the hearts of her daughter and son-in-law Monica and Terry Hayes, her grandchildren Lavon, Marnika & Mykahl, her brother Ray Marshall, nieces Lisa Wyrick, Evelyn Milling and Antoinette Marshall as well as her dearest family friends Alice Clay, Pat Jenkins, Denise Pearson and Leona Barbour.
A visitation for Shirley will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with a committal service at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, GA 30252 immediately following.
