Maria del Carmen Quintanilla, age 72, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Carmen was born January 30, 1945, in Laredo, Texas, the youngest daughter of Luis Quintanilla and Cledia Gutierrez de Quintanilla.
Carmen attended Catholic School until her senior year, where she graduated from Martin High School. After high school, Carmen worked as a bank teller at Bank of Commerce in Laredo.
In 1968, Carmen married the love of her life Jerome Eugene “Gene” Mullins Jr. After about a year in Wichita, Kansas where Gene was stationed in the Air Force, they settled in Fayetteville, Georgia, where they remained for 42 years. In 2013, Carmen and Gene moved to Hampton, Georgia to enjoy more time with their children and grandchildren.
In addition to raising three children, Carmen worked as a teller at Farmers, Merchants, and First Citizens banks in Fayetteville. Family was her passion and her priority. She returned home to Laredo twice a year to spend time with her parents, sister, 14 aunts and uncles, and many cousins. Carmen was also very involved with Soccer Center in Fayetteville, where her two boys played soccer as children. She managed the office and concession stands, along with the day to day leagues of the indoor soccer center for approximately 10 years.
Carmen is survived by her husband and three children and their families, including six grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
