Geraldine migrated from Georgia to New York City with her son Marcus Buckner (deceased). Shortly after arrival, she met and married her late husband Herman Williams. They had four beautiful daughters - Beverly Williams, Darlene Tucker (Warren), Sheree Van Duyne and Inger Williams. Together they built the Williams family legacy - a wonderful life filled with love and many blessings. They were married for 53 years and shared a life in The Bronx, New York and later retired to Springfield, South Carolina. She moved to Georgia in 2014 after the death of her husband.
Geraldine was educated in Georgia and New York City. She worked for The New York City Board of Education for over 40 years in Food Services Management. Once retired, she spent the majority of her time with her family, close friends and as a faithful servant of Jehovah.
Geraldine had a curious and adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling especially cruising, reading and shopping for the beautiful and stylish wardrobe she was known for.
Geraldine's family and her faith was the foundation of her life and the decisions and choices she made were always done with the consideration of Jehovah God in mind. Geraldine dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on December 5, 1967. She enjoyed attending meetings, studying the Bible and engaging in the preaching work. She instilled in her family the importance of making wise choices and would gently guide her family back to Jehovah whenever they needed advice or encouragement. She had a kind and generous spirit and was always happy to share words of support to her friends and family. Many people will be able to recall her phone calls just to check in to see how they were doing and to share kind words, advice or scriptures.
While the profound loss of our family matriarch has caused immense sadness and sorrow for our family, we are able to draw strength from Geraldine's unwavering faith in Jehovah's promise of a resurrection.
In addition to her parents and son, Geraldine was predeceased in death by her step-father Thomas Carswell, brother John Coleman, her sisters Jacqueline Corbett and Patricia Phillips, son-in-law Eric Van Duyne and her great-grandchild Xavier Tucker, Jr.
In addition to her daughters, Geraldine is survived by her loving brothers: Thomas Carswell, Ralph Carswell (Gale), Gary Carswell (Mia), Kenneth Carswell, Ronald Carswell and sister Roslyn Johnson (William). She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Charles F. Caines III, Tiffani Cox, Joshua Tucker, Lawrence Williams, Tafauria J. Williams, Xavier Tucker, Alexandria Tucker, Telana Harrison, Ingrid Diaz, Jorge Diaz and seven great-grand children: Jahnna Valverde-Caines, Jamon L. Shaperson Jr., Evangeline Cox, Alanna Harrison, Violet Sullivan, Quest Veasley, and Taisley Caines. She is also survived by her Sisters-in-Law Curtis Ann Olden (Charles) and Lilly Belle Saunders (Melvin) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
