DR. JOHN ARTHUR BONDRA 84, of Highland Heights, Ohio, husband of the late Beatrice Bondra, passed away with his loving family at his side on Sunday, January 24, 2016. John was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 19, 1931 to the late Emily and Michael Bondra. He is the brother of Thomas (Katherine) and the late Clifford (late Virginia).
He graduated from John Adams High School in 1949 and then attended Kent State University.
John served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. It was during that time he met the love of his life and his wife of 58 years, Beatrice.
Upon his honorable discharge from the USMC, he served as a Policeman for 6 years. He then became a Fireman and subsequently attended Great Lakes Chiropractic College in Cleveland and graduated in 1966. He worked as both a Chiropractor and a Fireman for 11 years. In 1983, he opened May-Green Chiropractic Care Center in South Euclid, Ohio. He retired at the age of 58 and moved to Hilton Head Island. There he organized the Volunteers of Medicine Clinic in Hilton Head Island serving those in need of medical care for 11 years. He enjoyed playing golf and serving as an officer for the Knights of Columbus. John returned to Cleveland with his wife after her cancer diagnosis in 2005. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports and played golf regularly.
He is survived by his 5 children: Dr. John Bondra Jr. (Carla, nee Salamone); Patricia Saluan (Maurice); Kathleen Bondra; Anthony Bondra Esq; and Dr. James Bondra. He is survived by his 18 grandchildren: Maurice (Danielle, nee Zavarella), Christina Moran (Pete), Matthew, Cassandra, Mark and Kimberly Saluan; Christopher, Carolyn and Kaitlin Bondra; Johanna, Christian, and Nicholas Bondra; Katherine and Julia Petti; Gabrielle and Joseph Bondra; Scott and the late Robert Schreiber. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Thomas and Ernest Moran.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Monday February 1st at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd. Gates Mills, OH 44040 ( Please Meet at Church ).
