Robert Taylor Abernathy, age 86, of Mason, Michigan passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Robert was born September 15, 1934 in Dresden, TN to James Roy and Mamie Gladys (Parrott). He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from General Motors in 1988 following many years of service. Robert was a member of the Holmes Road Church of Christ in Lansing for many years.
Surviving are his daughter, Wendy (David) Guenther; grandchildren, Andrew and Rebecca Guenther, Keri Abernathy; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Tibbs) Cantrell. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Ralph Abernathy; sister, Ruth Abernathy; wife, Shirley (Tibbs) Abernathy; son, Jeff Abernathy.
No formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
