He graduated from Michigan State University and was employed at the Michigan Department of Transportation as a highway planner for over 30 years, retiring in 1999.
He served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965 as a Cannon Crewmember and two years in the Army Reserves out of Jackson, MI.
He was a huge MSU fan, enjoyed many years of traveling and cruising.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra; son, Thomas Phillip (Helen); daughter, Michelle Kay Murphy (Rick); his grandchildren, Gabriel, Adriana, Casey and Erin; his older sister, Donna Swindlehurst and twin brother, Paul Lamb.
Phil's interests were hunting and fishing. He also loved playing cards, chess, gardening and spending time with his family.
