Norman "Norm" L. Austin

Norman Lewis Austin, 80, Born in Mason, MI on September 27, 1937 passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018. Norm was a lifelong resident of Mason except for his time in the United State Air Force. He worked for the City of Mason for over 30 years as the Finance Director/Treasurer. He also served on the Mason Fire Department for over 40 years. He spent countless hours at the Mason First United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. Norm was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Doris Austin, previous wife Wanda Austin, his daughter Renee Austin, step-daughter Cassie Rice, sisters Rosemary Eaglen and Margaret (Peg) Cantrell.

He is survived by Janice his high school classmate whom he married on June 3, 2016; his daughter, Robin (John) Sabbadin; son, Randy (Trina) Austin; step children, Caren (John) Finch, Richard (Evelyn) Rice, Fred (Susan) Rice, John (Tamara) Rice, Martin McMichael, Duane (Pamela) McMichael, Bruce McMichael and Pamela McMichael; brother Leslie (Freda) Austin and sister, Phyllis Armstrong. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the Mason First United Methodist Church in Mason from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday Feb. 16, 2018. A memorial service will be held in Norm's honor at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 17, 2018 with visitation at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Mason First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Ash St., Mason, MI 48854 and Mason Fire Department Memorial Fund, 201 W. Ash St., Mason, MI 48854.
