Lewis Bernard Shaw was born August 31, 1924 in Wheatfield Twp., MI, and died at the age of 94 January 6, 2019, in Leslie, MI. He was a graduate of Mason High School, and went on to become a hall of fame dairy farmer. Also, Lewis was recognized for his outstanding leadership in promoting sound land use programs throughout Ingham County. He actively participated in community affairs as well as the American Legion where he received acknowledgement for being one of the oldest living WWII veterans. He earned the name of Hawk Shaw for his extraordinaire card playing abilities. If you needed horse knowledge he was your go to guy! He always lended a hand to those in need and took great joy in making people smile and laugh. We have all been entertained by his intelligent humor.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Orville and Anona Shaw; wife, Dorothy (Kranz) Shaw; sister, Faye; brother, Ernest; and brother-in-law, Jim.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his seven children; sons, Douglas (Tami) David, Robert (Debbie) Steven (Troy), Thomas (Pam); two daughters, Carol and Connie; sisters, Bernadine and Ardith (Keith); along with seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or Children and Horses United in Movement (C.H.U.M. Therapeutic Riding Inc.)
