Jan was born on March 20, 1948 in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Ainsley A. and Dolores L. (Butler) Partridge. She attended Adrian High School and was in the graduating class of 1966. She went on to work for Mechanical Products for over 30 years.
She married her love, William G. Garrod, on December 30, 1977 in Adrian. Together, they created a blended family full of love.
In her free time, she was apart of the UAW Union Steward for years, and she was apart the VFW Auxiliary in Mason in the 1980s and 1990s. Jan had a collection of hobbies. Jan loved to collect Coca-Cola stuff. She loved to crochet, crocheting covers for the lawn chairs was her latest project. She loved simply sitting on the porch and enjoying nature more than any other hobby. Jan loved feeding the hummingbirds that would fly by her house; she loved all animals. Except for squirrels. If you knew Jan, you knew the constant battle she was in with the squirrels at her home.
What Jan loved most of all was her family. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride in the family that she built.
Jan is survived by her son, David (Chasity) Detwiler; step-children, Mike, Bill, Pam, Randy, Dixa, and Robert; grandchildren, Mason, Tyler, Rachel, Josh, Alex, Jerrica, Lauren, Eli, Casi, John, Andrea, Lori, Elissa, Shannon, Lindsey, Greg, Matt, and Emily; many great-grandchildren; her siblings, Lynn, Lee, and her twin sister, Janice; and her special furbaby, Trixie, and grand-furbabies, Cocoa and Oreo.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, William Garrod; her sons, Eric and Sam; her grandchild, Amanda; and her parents, Ainsley and Dolores Partridge.
A visitation for Jan will be held 6-8PM Monday, May 1, 2023 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Mason Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854. A funeral service will be held 12PM Tuesday, May 2nd at the funeral home with visitation an hour prior. A graveside service will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery.
