Carla Jane Coats, age 76, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She was born December 13, 1946, in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Calvin and Elizabeth Kohl. Carla worked as a cook for Mason Public Schools many years. She enjoyed gardening and collecting Santa Claus figurines. Carla loved spending time her with grandson, Danny. She had a deep love for family and supported them in everything that they did.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Coats and son-in-law, Tom Scallen. Surviving are her daughters, Theresa Scallen of Dimondale and Heidi (Daniel) Telfer of Holt; grandson, Daniel Scallen; her special friend, Melvin "Digger" Brown; sister, Pam (Dave) Hawkins; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and her loving cat, Sterling.
A visitation for Carla will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Big Brothers Big Sisters Michigan Capital Region.
