Our beautiful, sweet, and loving daughter, Amanda Marie, entered Heaven far too soon on August 26, 2023, at age 16. Amanda was born in Ypsilanti, MI on June 10, 2007, and from this day she proved her strength and ability to overcome all challenges that she would face.
Amanda, who also went by Mandy and affectionately known as Lulu by her parents, was a junior at Mason High School. Even though she was diagnosed with extreme dyslexia at age 9, she was an exceptional student overcoming this challenge and completing her sophomore year with a 4.0 GPA. She pushed herself with her classes, excelling and always willing to help others along the way. She came up with creative ways to teach herself and others. Although she excelled in math, her true passion was in the arts, child development, and psychology. Throughout her life Amanda tried countless activities, including horseback riding, violin, basketball, cheerleading and more recently she was involved in golf and soccer with her sister. She truly loved basketball and devoting her time to her little brother’s basketball team whether it was warm-ups or coaching extra practices during the off-season. As with everything else she did, she gave 100% of herself to these activities. Outside of school, she loved binge watching TV shows, drawing, and reading countless books. The thing she loved to do most though was spend time with her family and friends. If she knew you, she loved you, and spending time with each and every friend meant the world to her. She had the ability to make you feel like you were the most important person to her.
Amanda was not just a daughter, sister, and friend, but she was one of the brightest lights in this world to her parents and everyone who knew her. She touched countless lives during her short time here on this Earth. Her dreams were big, wanting to make this world a better place in any way she could. She talked about so many things she wanted to do when she grew up including, becoming a teacher to help students with disabilities and insecurities just like her favorite teachers had done for her. She had a passion for marine biology because of her love for animals and water. Her love for animals shone through on every family vacation, finding stray animals to pet and love. She also talked about becoming an author or an artist. She had so many talents and so much love for different things, her parents knew that whatever career she chose she would find a way to make a difference. Her love for people saw no boundaries, loving each and every one unconditionally.
Amanda will be lovingly missed by her parents, Dennis and Donna; her older sister, Carey; and her younger brother, Denny. She will be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, Grandma and Grandpa Blue, and her Grandpa Bajtka. She will also be missed by her extended family and friends. She will be welcomed into Heaven by her Grandma Bajtka.
Although Amanda had a love for life, a heart for giving, and saw the beauty in everyone around her, she struggled with feeling like she never truly fit in. She poured her heart into everyone because she always felt like she was alone and never wanted anyone else to feel that way. The countless number of students and adults that have visited since her untimely passing prove how many lives she truly impacted. She was a strong, unique, beautiful, loving, kind person that will truly be missed but never forgotten.
A memorial service to celebrate Amanda's remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at Riverview Church, 3585 E. Willoughby Rd., Holt, MI 48842 from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. The family asking that everyone honor Mandy by wearing green or yellow, her two favorite colors. A visitation will be held the day prior on Tuesday, September 5th at Gorsline Runciman, 621 S. Jefferson St, Mason, MI 48854 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
