Ray was born on January 27, 1952 in Ionia, MI, the son of Adam and Mildred Bailey. He attended Lakewood High School, the graduating class of 1970. He went on to further his education at Lansing Community College and received a General Associate's Degree. Ray went on to work for the State of Michigan for over 20 years and retired December 31st, 2010.
Ray met the love of his life, Julie Jaquette, and married her on March 6, 1971 in Jackson, MI. Together, they built a home full of love and laughter.
In his free time, he loved to ride bicycles, watch hockey games, and he absolutely loved to square-dance. He rode over 25 Dalmac Bicycle tours and was a long time member of the TCBA, Tri-County Bicycle Association. Ray held Michigan State Hockey season tickets for a great while, and loved watching the Detroit Red Wings.
Ray was a follower of the Lord and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Holt.
A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday, March 11th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5740 Holt Rd., Holt. A luncheon will follow the service.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Julie of 52 years; Daughter, Bethanne (fiance, Jason Maynard); Son, Eric of Mason; Bonus daughter, Jeanine Pierce of Lansing; Very special second mom, JoAnn Wigman; Sister Imogene Sutfin (Leon) of Fowlerville; sister, Brenda Bailey of Lima, OH; Very special dog, Ren of Mason; Very special cousin, Terry (Daniel) Thompson of Kingsbury, IN; Very special friends from dancing, bike club, camping, and neighbors; and many more.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mildred; brother, Joe; brother, Gene; and sister, Vonda.
